Performance
It is said that performance is all about sharing one’s love of dance. In class, the emphasis is on learning new material and perfecting technique. In the theater, we take what we’ve learned in the studio and share it with the audience. Performance is the essence of dance, and at Connecticut Dance School consummate performance is the goal for every dancer.

The Nutcracker

The School mounts an annual production of The Nutcracker, choreographed by artistic director, Alan Woodard, with two holiday performances at Fairfield University’s Quick Center for the Arts.

In addition to the two public performances, our older students also participate in four shortened performances for area school children, giving these children the experience of a live ballet, that they may not otherwise have the opportunity to see.

Spring Benefit and June Concert
In the early spring, the School performs a fundraising gala, Dances to Celebrate Spring. The advanced students perform ballet and modern works for an audience at one of the area’s premier venues, such as the Westport Country Playhouse.

In the late spring, the School concludes its year with The June Concert, again at Fairfield University’s Quick Center, in which all but our creative and pre-primary students participate.

Studio Showcase
Pre-primary students have a very special and intimate performance opportunity of their own, The Studio Showcase, performed at the CDS studio for family and friends at the end of the spring semester.
